Is this really a joke? I mean......c'mon!!!
The thought of poor defenseless animals being poisoned, blinded, and the like, just so that the consumer can feel better about the product they are about to put on their skin, eyes, lips, etc, is a big JOKE to me! On the other hand, there are a lot of people out there who would actually feel better and secure of themselves if a product was tested on animals to ensure their safety level. I don't know about you, but I think I'd feel not only safer, but a whole lot better about myself to know that no rat, mouse, or bunny rabbit was poisoned or blinded for beauty's sake.
I never want to come across as "preachy", cause I'm not the "preachy" kind of person, but this is near and dear to my heart, and dear to millions of hearts across the globe. I really think we all can make a huge difference if we protest the companies that test on animals by not using their products. The cosmetic companies that do not test have similar, more beautiful colors that its virtually impossible to ignore.
Let me just say, also, that there are other ways to test cosmetics without harming poor defenseless animals. I've read that with the technology we have these days, you can actually grow, (yep, grow) human "skin". Thus can be used to test new cosmetics before going out on the market. See! There are also donated human eye corneas that can be used to test eyeshadow, mascara, etc.
As a makeup artist, I personally use high end cosmetics for my kit that are featured on PETA's Do Not Test List (www.caringconsumer.com). Companies like MAC, Smashbox, Bare Escenutals, and Urban Decay are taking the stand against animal cruelty, and you should too. You have a choice just like everyone of us. My choice as a professional, a human being, is to stand against animal cruelty.
